The Ice Station at Grand West Casino is an Olympic size ice rink in South Africa, commissioned by circulating brine water solution in PE-Xa tubing.
The tubing is fixed to the structural steel, covered in concrete to form the rink floor. Water is then introduced to this floor while the brine solution is flowing through the pipe mat at -12°C to ensure that the water layer covering the concrete floor remains frozen year round.
